When it fits flat against the wall, use a miter saw to cut inside and outside miters for the corners. If your fascia is wood, you can also replace it with an oak fascia to match the backsplash, but if it's laminated, you can't trim out the fascia with oak without removing the laminate.

The backsplash is that flat piece of plastic extending up the wall about 5 inches where the back of the countertop meets the wall.

Pry it off, but leave the small wire bead at the bottom if you want.

Spray the wood with another coat of lacquer and let it dry before handling it.

After you've installed the oak trim, fill the nail holes with a color-matched putty crayon and wipe it clean with a soft cloth.
